Democrat & Chronicle: Area family files suit in body-parts scandal This is a printer friendly version from the Democrat and Chronicle: March 6, 2006 Area family files suit in body-parts scandal Gary Craig Staff writer A Rochester family today alleged that skin, bone and tissue were harvested from their deceased mother without the family's consent. The family of Lottie Ann Warren-Kennedy, who died in May 2005 at the age of 65, said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration notified the family in December of the harvesting of the body parts. Warren-Kennedy was cremated at her request, but the family now suspects that body parts were harvested sometime in the days before her cremation. The FDA found records within the files of Biomedical Tissue Services, the New Jersey company now at the center of a Brookly-based criminal investigation. Rochester lawyer Van Henri White said he would file a lawsuit today on behalf of the family against Biomedical and Serenity Hills Funeral Home Inc. of Rochester, which handled the cremation of Ms. Warren-Kennedy. The pending action was announced at a news conference this morning. Back Copyright 2005 Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.
